Fake Eyelashes - How the ............!?!

You may have had a head to head with eyelashes before, you sit there staring at it, thinking out strategies, your next move, but you know it senses your fears. You think, "you know what, I'm gonna do it, I won't let it get to me". So you begin, you apply the glue, wave it around for 10 seconds and pop it on and it just looks like a huge mess. Your defeated. You think to yourself, I'm never going near eyelashes again!

To be honest, I was like that too. I would just play around constantly and think this is never going to work! But as time went on, I learnt new techniques and got better over time. So now, I want to share some of my tips & tricks with you!

1. Measure your lashes before you are ready to apply them. To do this you need to pick up the lash (generally on the tray they are left & right eye - sometimes they aren't labelled, so make sure the end of the shorter lashes are the inner corners of the eye and fan outwards and longer) and place it on your eye to see if the length fits across your lid, if it over hangs you will need to cut off so it fits perfectly on your lid, if it's too short, you will probably need to find another pair as it can look funny.

2. Make sure you take your time when your ready to apply them. The quicker you are, the worse they will apply. I will take about 5 minutes to apply them and I know that it doesn't seem like a long time anyway, buuuutt, I've seen some people that will apply the glue and wait 5-10 seconds and then apply. You will need to wait about 40 seconds per lash and then wriggling the lash around for a good minute or so before you get the perfect position and so they are even as well.

3. Wait for the glue to get tacky and don't apply too much! This will be the biggest factor if it applies well or not. Like mentioned above take your time and test the tackiness of the glue by just dabbing your finger lightly and see how resistant the glue is. It will need to be tacky, because if you apply one that hasn't set yet, you will find it much harder to set in place.

4. If fingers aren't helping you out, opt for some tweezers or a lash applicator. Sometimes, it can make all the difference with how the result. Lash applicators are probably the simplest form of applying as it has a strong grip on the whole lash rather than one section, and can be the reason it pops on perfectly as opposed to tweezers which can go on wonky or crooked and then is set straight away.

5. When applying the lash on to your lid, place the middle section on first and as close to the lash line as possible, try to refrain from applying it on your lashes as it can be painful when your ready to take them off at the end of the night, and make sure your hand is straight and not angled when applying. Once it's secure in the middle, press down on the inner corner and then outer corner.

6. Two mirrors are better than one. Use a table mirror and a compact mirror so that way you can see how it looks from two different angles and get the best application!

7. If you need to add more glue, I like to use the end of my tweezers and put some glue on it and the add a little bit to where is needed.

8. I always put my lashes on and then mascara. If you do it the other way around, I find it makes it a little bit more challenging to apply because there is more curl to the natural lash. Of course, each to their own!
